Daniel Levy has suggested to Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that Antonio Conte is planning to promote the club’s best academy players into his first-team.
Plans being made
Conte is regarded as one of the very elite coaches in world football right now, but his success has generally been built over a short-term approach.
Conte is no stranger to signing older players who are at the peak of their powers, if they can improve his first-team.
Yet the Tottenham boss appears to be planning for the long-term in North London.
Indeed, in a message to supporters today, Levy suggested that Tottenham are still keen to provide a platform for their best young players to thrive.
“Fabio [Paratici] continued the rebuild in the summer, resulting in the average age of our new summer signings being 22 years compared to the average age of 31 years for the outgoing players,” he began.
“We shall also look to continue the well-established path for youngsters from our Academy to our First Team. I know that Antonio’s approach is if a player is good enough, he will play, regardless of status or age.”
Skipp already a favourite
Conte’s stance may highlight why he has taken such a shine to Oliver Skipp already.

Skipp sat out of Spurs’s game against Leeds United at the weekend, but has been picked to start in both games he has been available.
Conte also picked Japhet Tanganga over the more experienced Davinson Sanchez at the weekend.
Interestingly there could be more of Spurs’ youngsters who get the chance to feature under the Italian boss on Thursday.
Tottenham are set to take on Mura in the UEFA Conference League and Conte has already promised changes.
Dane Scarlett did not feature for Tottenham’s under-23 side yesterday, which may well suggest that he is being considered to play in midweek, as Spurs look to continue their unbeaten start under Conte.
