Brighton and Hove Albion star Neal Maupay has sent a warning to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry ahead of Saturday’s clash.
Speaking on Monday Night Football after the Seagulls 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, the French attacker jokingly told his fellow countryman that he hopes Henry won’t be angry if Maupay scores on the weekend.
The 25-year-old attacker has been in fine form this season for Brighton. Maupay has four goals in six league games, with Graham Potter’s side sat sixth in the Premier League standings.
Indeed, it has been a brilliant start to the campaign for the south coast side. And with Arsenal in town on Saturday, Brighton could make a serious statement against Mikel Arteta’s side with a good result.
The two sides have had an interesting history in recent years. Maupay infamously injured Bernd Leno during Project Restart, causing the German keeper to miss six weeks of action and to give Emi Martinez the platform to perform in the Premier League.
And speaking to Henry post-match against Palace, Maupay revealed that he is excited for the fixture on Saturday. The Brighton star said: “I really love playing against Arsenal.

“It’s a great team. I hope you (Henry) won’t be angry at me if I score some goals on Saturday. I know you’ll be watching.”
With Arsenal on a three-game winning run in the Premier League, another three points in the division could be crucial to Arteta in their quest to best their eighth-place finish in the league last season.
