Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told The Liverpool Echo that he does not know when Harvey Elliott will be back in action.
Klopp has said that he has seen some positive signs about the Liverpool winger.
Injury
Elliott suffered an ankle injury while playing for Liverpool against Leeds United in the Premier League in September.
The 18-year-old, who was being played in midfield by Klopp this season, has started training at the AXA Training Centre.
Jurgen Klopp’s verdict on Harvey Elliott
Klopp told The Liverpool Echo on Friday: “I saw him running this morning. He has a foot injury and there are rusty mornings when you get up and it does feel rusty, but he is running outside now with full body weight on it, that is a good sign.
“When he will be back I have no idea. From a mental point of view, Harvey is rather an old soul, I would say he is very mature for a young age.
“He is completely fine with the situation, he has accepted it, he deals with it. Everybody around tries to help him. I think I must try and cheer him up some days, but it is rarely needed because he has a brilliant family at home and is a rather positive fella.
“And yes we all hope from a physical point of view a young age helps him to recover quickly but quickly is not so important. Fully is the main thing.
“At the moment, and I hope I don’t eat my words, but I cannot see a scenario where we would think about rushing him back. He is our long-term prospect and each day we can get him back earlier is great but we will not rush that.”

Staying patient
That Elliott is back in training is certainly good news for Liverpool.
However, in our view, Liverpool should not rush the youngster into match action anytime soon.
We think that Klopp is right about taking it easy and steady with the 18-year-old.
There is no point in rushing back Elliott.

Liverpool are doing well without the former Fulham youngster.
Now, of course, a player of Elliott’s quality and potential would be f massive help to Liverpool.
But, we should not think of just short-term gain.
Let’s not forget that Elliott is only 18 and has his entire future ahead of him.
