Mikel Arteta has hinted that there could be some movement in the January transfer window for Arsenal depending on if there are any sudden departures.
Speaking to the press via Football London, the 39-year-old manager revealed that, as things stand, Arsenal won’t be too busy in the January market. However, things could change if there are some exits from the Emirates Stadium.
Numerous players could leave the north London side in 2022. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are just two players with contracts expiring next summer. And as things stand, the duo will depart Arsenal in the New Year.
Indeed, arrivals are unlikely at Arsenal in January given the size of the squad. However, Arteta refused to rule out bringing in new players if the situation called for it.
The Arsenal manager said when asked about January: “We are in discussions. We have talks every week about it. As you know we have certain players with uncertainty in the summer.”
“We have to plan now & the summer. We don’t expect big things happening but we have to be very alert & prepared.”
Arsenal fans laud Arteta’s plan for January

Indeed, departures could once again be the main aim for Arsenal in January, with Arteta and Edu Gaspar selling the likes of Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi last year in the winter window.
And as for Arsenal fans on social media, they are pleased that Arteta could be making some moves in January and that some business could be done in the New Year.
