Ian Wright has shared that Arsenal ‘cheered’ on the coach when Manchester City’s shock defeat to Brentford came through, as he told Premier League Productions (14/11/22 at 2:35 pm).

Pep Guardiola’s side kicked off proceedings on Saturday lunchtime, and rather than head towards the break for the 2022 World Cup with three points, they were downed by a man that had a point to prove – Ivan Toney.

The 26-year-old, who was recently left out of Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for Qatar, netted a brace at the Etihad, including a stoppage-time winner and the Englishman went from Villan in the eyes of Arsenal supporters, because of their past coming together, to instant hero.

Then it was all over to Mikel Arteta and his players, who were in the Midlands for their evening game against Wolves.

And they didn’t disappoint with captain Martin Odegaard leading his side to all three points, as Wright shared that ‘everybody involved with Arsenal’ would have cheered when Man City dropped vital points.

“You see Man City lose against Brentford, which no-one saw coming,” said Wright. “Brentford were magnificent, you should give all the plaudits for the win because they went there with a way of playing that Man City just couldn’t deal with and they executed that.

“For Arsenal to then watch that, I heard they were watching it on the coach and they were cheering as well. Everybody involved with Arsenal would have reacted (like that).”

ARSENAL AND MAN CITY PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE RACE

It’s on, but for how long can Arsenal keep up with the pace of the current champions of England?

At this moment in time, forget about keeping pace, they are setting it, and that, at a seriously blistering pace.

If Usain Bolt was at the other end, then the Olympic legend wouldn’t be able to keep up with the Gunners, who know that a much tougher test, mainly a mental test, awaits them when players return after the 2022 World Cup.
