Michael Owen says Arsenal are now the ‘real deal’ after they returned from the World Cup break by beating West Ham United on Boxing Day.
Many donning Arsenal colours would have feared that Mikel Arteta’s side had lost momentum and, as a result, it was probably going to take them a while to get their engines going again.
But as West Ham found out, despite the East London club taking the lead at the Emirates Stadium, they were well beaten.
The Gunners are proudly sitting top of the Premier League table and that will be the case at the start of 2023.
From missing out on Champions League football on the last day of last season to now pushing for the title, it has been some improvement by the club and they are still going.
Former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen likes what he sees from them and he added that he can’t wait to see them playing Manchester City, as he told Premier League Productions.
“I have to doff my hat and say Arsenal are the real deal now, they are,” said Owen. “I really can’t wait to see them play against the likes of Manchester City because they are looking in really good shape.
“They have some brilliant players and they have got a great vibe around the club. It’s all looking good.”
JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW COULD BE GAME-CHANGING
During the 2022 January transfer window, Arsenal opted against bringing in a fresh face, despite booting out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
It cost them because they didn’t have that freshness, nor competition heading towards the crunch moments of the season.
But it seems as though they will look to bring in a few players next month, especially with Gabriel Jesus’ injury.
If that’s the case, then this second half of the season could just be one Arsenal fans remember for a very, very long time.
