Darwin Nunez signing for Liverpool is looking increasingly likely.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool have already agreed personal terms with the Benfica hitman, who would cost the Reds around £85 million.

It has already been reported by The Times that the player himself is keen on a transfer to Anfield.

And Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda has expanded on that in an interview with Sky Sports this morning.

Sepulveda revealed that the Uruguayan attacker is already in contact with some of Jurgen Klopp’s squad, who have been waxing lyrical about how special Liverpool’s famous stadium is.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Sepulveda said: “I have some information from the player’s side. The player is already thinking about playing in Anfield.

“He wants to play Champions League with Liverpool. He wants to play at Anfield because he has already talked with other players at Liverpool who said to him how amazing it is to play at a stadium like Anfield.”

If and when this materialises, Nunez is likely to be Sadio Mane’s replacement on Merseyside.

The Senegal international is heavily linked with a transfer to Bayern Munich and The Daily Mail has reported this week that Thiago Alcantara has offered him his home in Germany, to help him settle in a new country.

Liverpool reportedly want around £35 million for the player, which represents a big chunk of what it’d cost to convince Benfica to offload Nunez.

Darwin Nunez signing for Liverpool is far from a foregone conclusion, but there’s no doubt that it’s getting closer.
