It’s been quite a whirlwind week at Everton, and just as you think things couldn’t get any more bizarre, they were linked with a move to appoint Steven Gerrard as their next manager.

Indeed, Gerrard is reportedly a target for the Toffees, and as bizarre as it sounds to hear that a Liverpool legend could be appointed at Goodison Park, his previous comments about the club show just how outlandish this rumour is.

What has Gerrard said about Everton?

Remarkably, Gerrard once admitted on Amazon Prime that he actually hates Everton.

It’s no secret that Liverpool and Everton have a fierce rivalry, and despite the fact there have been rumours about Gerrard supporting the Toffees as a youngster, he’s previously said that he hates the Merseyside outfit.

Gerrard was asked whether or not he preferred beating Manchester United or Everton, to which he replied:

“That’s like, which one of the Kardashians that,” Gerrard said in a joking manner.

“It’s tough. I can’t [choose].”

“You hate them both then?” Peter Crouch then asked.

‘I don’t… yeah, I hate both of them,’ Gerrard replied before laughing.

Controversial

Appointing Gerrard at Goodison Park would be incredibly controversial, and you have to ask if Everton fans would ever accept him as their manager?

It’s no secret that Gerrard has a desire to manage Liverpool one day, so if he came to Goodison it may just be a matter of time before he stabs the Toffees in the back.

Yes, he’s a remarkably talented young manager. After all, he just managed Rangers to an unbeaten season in Scotland, but due to his links to Liverpool, it’s hard to see him ever taking over at Everton.

Usually, we’d say stranger things have happened in football, but to be honest, it’s hard to think of a more bizarre idea than Steven Gerrard becoming the next Everton manager.
