Reece James is in the argument for the best right-back in the Premier League but injuries have held him back.
The 24-year-old is a complete package at right-back with a sharp eye for a pass, incredible technical ability and a strong physical approach to defending.
He was named club captain at 23 years old and he helped the Blues lift the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel.
But his body has let him down and it is tough to not wince at Reece James‘ injury record at Stamford Bridge.
A long-term hamstring issue meant he played just 421 minutes of Premier League football for Chelsea last season.
He returned for the final three games of the season but missed out on a call-up to the England squad for Euro 2024.

Reece James issues promising injury update
Having been left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad, James was granted a lengthy summer break to rest and recuperate.
He is now back in training with Chelsea and has jetted out to the United States for their pre-season tour.
In an interview with ESPN, James said “I know I’ve overcome that now. [psychological worries]”
“There was times before where I would think – can I do this, can I do that?
“When you have that doubt you don’t feel confidence, and most recently I definitely felt like that fear has gone – I feel free again.”
Reece James next season
Chelsea are starting a new chapter under Enzo Maresca and it is perfect for James to start fresh and try to leave his injury issues behind him.

With a full summer of training to prepare him for the season ahead, he will be looking forward to playing a key part in Chelsea’s push for a top-four finish.
He will also have his sights set on a return to the England squad – although it is not yet clear which manager he will have to impress.
