Jamie Redknapp has told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (25/08/21 at 5:10 pm) that he doesn’t think the saga around Harry Kane staying at Tottenham is over.
The former midfielder reacted to Kane stating on Twitter that he will stay at Spurs this summer and how Manchester City could still come in for him in 2022.
This well-documented drama has rumbled on all summer and before Tuesday’s deadline, it has ended with Pep Guardiola, who openly admitted he wanted to sign Kane, not being able to sign his man.
But Redknapp warned about how Kane will react if he ‘not happy next year’, as his comments won’t sit well with the Tottenham fans.
On this not being the end of a move for Kane: “No, I don’t think it is,” said Redknapp. “I am sure if Man City come along next year.
“I suppose where Daniel Levy might look at it from next year is that Haaland might be leaving. Man United may need a striker and Man City.
“They are maybe thinking ‘I might be able to get that £150m next year’. Now, it’s a brave move from that point of view. To think only a year and a half ago clubs were furloughing their staff and we were wondering where if there were going to be big-money signings ever again.
“If Harry’s not happy next year. I have no doubt that if the opposite possibility came around. Two or three years left on his contract then it might be a different conversation. But time will tell.”

With Kane staying put in North London, it’s going to be interesting to see what final-minute deals Spurs will now conduct.
There is no doubt that Fabio Paratici can use this Kane news to his benefit when trying to lure some last-minute players to the club.
Given that Kane is one of the best players in the world, it would no doubt have some sort of pull.
It’s clear that another striker isn’t needed, unless Spurs look to bring in depth, but Adama Traore is someone who has been mentioned.
With Kane bang in the middle, him getting fed by the likes of Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura, Traore and Steven Bergwijn, is something that is worth watching.
