Antonio Conte is said to want Adama Traore at Tottenham in the January transfer window as he aims to improve his Spurs squad.

That is according to 90min, who believe the Italian is a huge admirer of the Spain international and wants him in north London.

Now, Julen Lopetegui – who manages Traore at Wolves – has shared some interesting comments on the situation.

What’s the story?

Well, the 56-year-old has admitted that he is unsure whether the Wolves No.37 will be staying at Molineux.

As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Lopetegui said: “We trust Adama and we are going to try, of course, to have him continue here. I like Adama, so we will see — I don’t know what’s gonna happen.”

Clearly, the Spaniard wants to keep the rapid winger – who Wolves paid £18m for – in the Midlands.

However, it is crunch time.

Traore’s contract expires at the end of the season, so if Wolves become aware that he has no intention of signing fresh terms, they may end up selling him in January, as it will be their last chance to receive a transfer fee.

The £46,000-a-week man has not exactly been a key man for Wolves so far this season, making six starts in the Premier League as well as six substitute appearances.

Tottenham must sign Adama Traore

Traore has struggled for consistency since arriving in England, although his potential – even at the age of 26 – is scary.

Few players on the planet can surge up the pitch and breeze past opponents as quickly as he can, so with a talented coach like Conte teaching him how to utilise his talents, Tottenham could go up a gear with the pacy Spaniard.

Furthermore, the north Londoners are missing a standout right wing-back right now, so there is a place in the starting XI with Traore’s name written all over it. He can also operate on the left.

Both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty have failed to nail the spot down for themselves, while Conte does not seem to have any interest in using Djed Spence, signed from Middlesbrough back in the summer.

Therefore, we feel a move for Traore would be a wise decision, and he could also be available for a bargain sum if he rejects a new contract from Wolves.
