Alan Brazil doesn’t quite understand why Chelsea would allow Conor Gallagher to leave for London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

On Monday night, the 24-year-old netted a brace as Mauricio Pochettino watched his side come from behind to secure a late 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.

But these talks around Conor Gallagher’s future at Stamford Bridge just won’t go away, sources have told HITC Football that his long-term future at Chelsea is in doubt with Tottenham being very big admirers.

Alan Brazil made it clear that Chelsea ‘can’t let him go’ because of the midfielder’s importance to the dressing room, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (14/02/24 at 8:10 am).

It was previously noted by Jody Morris that Conor Gallagher is a Chelsea fan and he wants to represent the colours of his boyhood club.

To have that type of individual in the dressing room, who would be willing to do everything to wear the shirt and get them out of the current mess, is priceless.

Yet, like Chelsea have done with many academy stars before, Conor Gallagher could leave, which would be a blow to the fans and a massive win for whoever gets to sign him.

Conor Gallagher’s future at Chelsea

“What about Conor Gallagher, I don’t get it why Chelsea want to let him go,” said Brazil. “He is linked with Spurs now.

“They can’t let him go, can they?! When you are trying to galvanise your team spirit, then he is perfect.”

Conor Gallagher is growing under Mauricio Pochettino

With Reece James still struggling with injury issues, Gallagher has been given the armband this season by his manager.

The fact that Pochettino is doing that is probably a signal from himself that he doesn’t want the club to let the England international leave, but it might just be out of his hands.

Chelsea have spent hundreds of millions on midfield players, yet, one of their most promising players is the one from the academy who cost absolutely nothing.

If the club decides that Gallagher’s future lies elsewhere, then you can just see him proving his worth and being successful for another team.
