Jody Morris has urged Conor Gallagher to stay at Chelsea beyond the January transfer window amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Sources have told HITC Football that Conor Gallagher’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge is in doubt, with Spurs keen on bringing him in.
But given that Chelsea want £50 million for the player and their London rivals aren’t even willing to pay £40 million, then everyone has reached a sticking point – Here is everything you need to know about when the winter transfer window will slam shut.
Either way, Jody Morris says he can bet his house that Conor Gallagher ‘doesn’t want to leave’ and he hopes a move doesn’t happen, as he told Transfer Deadline Day on Sky Sports (01/02/24 at 10:10 am).
It’s pretty rare for those in the Hotspur Way boardroom and those at Stamford Bridge to do business of any kind.
But for the stand-in Chelsea captain to be sold to Tottenham would be a shock, even if the club are willing to let him leave – Here are the ins and outs of the January transfer window so far.
Either way, ex-Chelsea player Jody Morris shared his thoughts on the England star’s future amid Spurs lurking in the background.
Will Conor Gallagher leave Chelsea?
“We know when you have players coming through the ranks, there is a little bit extra attached to that,” said Morris.
“It’s difficult to see some home-grown players be sold, but to be fair, the business were are in football. There are business type of decisions that need to be made. That doesn’t soften the blow.
“If you are talking about Conor Gallagher purely on his own. He has been one of the best players we have had this season. The kid is a mad Chelsea fan. His family are all Chelsea. He has been there since he was eight. I bet my house on it that he doesn’t want to leave Chelsea.
“But that doesn’t mean he isn’t going to because there have been moments before with Conor where it looked like he was maybe leaving through the back door. I hope it doesn’t happen. I hope for all match-going Chelsea fans it doesn’t happen.”

Chelsea should keep Conor Gallager
Unless finances dictate that Chelsea have to sell, then they will have no choice but to part ways with an academy player.
But here is someone who is one of their own, plays with his heart on his sleeve and is willing to run through a brick wall to get the club back to the top.
Plus, after spending millions and millions on players, especially in the middle of the park, and those players not seeming to work yet, then surely it’s obvious to keep what is doing well in Gallagher.
