Is it possible Malo Gusto snubbed a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in order to join Chelsea?
In a word, yes.
The 19-year-old has officially joined Chelsea for £31 million [BBC Sport] and will link up with his new teammates ahead of the summer transfer window,
Among the clubs who rivalled the Blues was Spurs.
FootMercato reported last week that Tottenham were keen on bringing him to North London, a reliable outlet given that Gusto, like that publication, is French.

The player himself said about joining Graham Potter’s side: “I chose Chelsea because it’s a very big club and I very like the big project. Very happy to be here – I also like the city.”
And Fabrizio Romano, writing for Caught Offside, has revealed that the player did have another Premier League side interested – and one that wasn’t Manchester United.
Romano said: “I’m not aware of any attempt or bid from Manchester United, despite some reports that they were in contact. It was another English club trying to sign Malo Gusto, I’m told; but Man United were not working to sign him.”
That other club could well have been Tottenham.
No other Premier League outfit was linked as much as Antonio Conte’s side and Chelsea.
And given that we know Gusto himself likes London, that was obviously a factor in his decision.
Tottenham look to have already missed out on Pedro Porro following a bombshell report from David Ornstein today, as covered by HITC Sport.
But given Gusto’s comments and Romano’s claim, it’s possible that they missed out on him, too.
