Sadio Mane is reportedly on the brink of quitting Liverpool.
Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed on Saturday that they had struck an agreement to sign the Senegal international.
Liverpool will sell the 30-year-old for around £36 million after the Bavarian outfit previously failed with two offers earlier in June.
Mane has just enjoyed a brilliant 23-goal season under Jurgen Klopp and really came alive during the second half of the campaign, despite the German manager tweaking his position following the addition of Luis Diaz.
As a result, the former Southampton attacker was deployed through the middle but even that didn’t affect Mane’s form, with the livewire continuing to be a massive asset for Liverpool.
Dean Saunders has told talkSPORT that he looked ‘unstoppable’ at times and the pundit cannot believe that the player wishes to leave Anfield.
He told talkSPORT: “I can’t believe he’s leaving Liverpool, I don’t know how it’s got to this point. He’s 30, I think of all his time at the club, the last six months he’s played the best football, he’s been unstoppable at times.
“He went up the middle when Diaz signed and he started getting better and better at finding the pockets and linking the play up. I can’t get my head round why you’d want to leave Liverpool right now, when you’re playing the best football of your life in the best combination front-three he’ll ever play in, to go and play for Bayern Munich.”
Why is Sadio Mane leaving Liverpool?
It’s previously been reported by Sport1 in Germany that a ‘lack of financial appreciation’ was driving Mane’s decision to quit the Reds this summer.
Mane is only earning £100,000 per week and with Mohamed Salah angling for a £400,000-a-week contract, something he might not achieve, it seems like the former Red Bull Salzburg attacker is fed up.
