Adam Lallana has raved about reported Arsenal target Ben White in The Times.

The former Liverpool midfielder has said that his Brighton and Hove Albion teammate steps up in the big games.

Lallana has added that he is pleased that White will be part of the 26-man England squad for the Euro 2020 finals.

The Sun reported in May that Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing the 23-year-old central defender this summer.

The report in the British tabloid claimed that the Seagulls are looking for £35 million as transfer fee for the former Leeds United loanee.

The Daily Mail has reported interest in the England international from Arsenal and Liverpool this month.

Lallana said about White in The Times: “In any case, having played alongside Ben at Brighton & Hove Albion this season, I can vouch that he is a player who steps up the bigger the game. He is someone who looks even more comfortable when in the company of the best players.”

The former Liverpool midfielder added: “His physique is something that he has worked on throughout this season. At 6ft, perhaps there were question marks over his size as a centre half, but those have been dispelled.

“The fact that he has also played right back this season illustrates his versatility and that will be the main reason why Southgate has called him into the squad after the injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold.”

Good signing for Arsenal?

White did well for Brighton this past season, just as he did during his loan spell at Leeds in 2019-20.

The defender is also able to play as a right-back and as a defensive midfielder.

David Luiz is leaving Arsenal, and White could replace him in the Arsenal team.

Of course, William Saliba is on his way back from loan, but the Frenchman is only 20 and has yet to play in the Premier League.

Lallana’s claim that White steps up in the big games is also great for Arsenal.

The Gunners are a big club, and every game for them is a big one.
