Is Darwin Nunez coming to Liverpool?
That’s what Reds supporters have been wondering quite a lot throughout this week following speculation.
And the answer is….very possibly.
That’s because The Athletic have reported that Liverpool have agreed personal terms with the Benfica hitman, who scored 34 goals in all competitions last season.
The Anfield outfit still have to agree on a transfer fee and were quoted £85 million this week [The Times].
However, it’s looking likely that the Uruguay international will wind up on Merseyside this summer.
What will Darwin Nunez’s wages be at Liverpool?
And one Portuguese journalist has revealed what the player will be earning.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Pedro Sepulveda said: “He’s already agreed personal terms and everything with Liverpool. We’re talking about a five-year contract. In his salary I can say here – I didn’t post it anywhere else yet – he will receive more or less €6 million net per season.”
When converted, that equates to an annual salary of around £5.1 million, working out at £100,000 per week.
It’s nowhere near what the likes of Mohamed Salah will be hoping to earn from his next contract at Liverpool, if both parties reach an agreement.
But it’s on par with what the Reds have been paying Sadio Mane [Spotrac], whom Nunez is likely to replace at the Premier League club.
