Speaking on the Arsenal Lounge YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has delivered a definitive transfer update about the Gunners.

The journalist was being asked a number of questions about the Gunners’ summer transfer plans, and as you can imagine, one question that came up was about which positions the Gunners were looking at.

Romano says that Arsenal are definitely looking at improving four different spots in their side and that they’re also planning to get some of their business done very early.

“I can guarantee you 100% that they are working on some positions in particular. Right-back, centre-back, midfielder and number 10, if Odegaard will leave, since February. So they are already talking with people, with agents and with clubs to be prepared. The market this summer will be particular, as always when we have the Euros or the World Cup, the summer will be the end of May or the start of June, they will start something and I expect Arsenal to do something at the beginning of the market,” Romano said.

“At the beginning of the market, Arsenal will be ready to do something, let’s see if it will be the right-back, the absolute priority is at right-back at the moment, that and the midfield, so I expect that at the beginning of the market they will be close to signing two players in these positions.”

Arsenal look to have their business in order going into this summer.

Far too often the Gunners have left things late and been forced to make a mad dash towards the end of the window, but it seems as though Edu and Mikel Arteta have actually been doing some long-term planning.

If Romano is to be believed, Arsenal made their plans back in February, so you’d have to hope that they’ve got something quite special lined up.

It remains to be seen who Arsenal end up signing, but it’s bound to be an intriguing transfer window to say the least.
