Arsenal target Tammy Abraham is reportedly set to sign for AS Roma in the coming days.
According to David Ornstein of the Athletic, Roma’s general manager will fly to London this week to secure a deal for the Chelsea striker. As reported by Sky Sports News, the Italian side will pay £34m for the attacker.
As per the Athletic, Arsenal were eager to sign the 23-year-old centre-forward. However, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah still on the Gunners’ books, any deal for Roma-bound Abraham would have to wait.
The north London side are fans of Abraham. Moreover, according to Sports Illustrated, Arsenal were willing to increase the striker’s £80,000-a-week contract by some margin should he move to the Emirates.
Indeed, Arsenal have made three signings so far this summer. However, Mikel Arteta’s business is far from done this window. A creative midfielder needs to be signed, and multiple players are listed for transfer.
Although Abraham would have been a good signing for Arsenal had the right situation presented itself, some supporters on social media are delighted that the Chelsea man is heading to Roma.
Indeed, a few supporters are buzzing that Arsenal won’t be signing the England international. Despite Abraham being a proven goalscorer in the Premier League, some fans are against the idea of the striker joining.
