Charles Watts has claimed on his YouTube channel that Arsenal fans need not worry about the future of Gabriel Martinelli.

The Arsenal correspondent for Goal.com has said that he has been told that Martinelli is very much in the plans of manager Mikel Arteta for the long term.

Watts said about Martinelli on his YouTube channel: “All the fears over Martinelli and whether Mikel fancies him or doesn’t fancy him, I don’t think you should be worried about that. From everything that I am told, he is still very much part of the long-term future at Arsenal.”

Struggling for playing time

Martinelli has had injury problems, but the forward is now fit and available. The Brazilian has been in matchday squads, but he has not always started or even come on as a substitute at times.

According to WhoScored, the 19-year-old forward has made three starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League and has played 22 minutes in the Europa League for the Gunners so far this season.

With Willian and Nicolas Pepe starting to play well and Martinelli not exactly doing great in the games he has played, it makes sense for manager Arteta to use the teenager sparingly.

Martinelli is still only 19, and both the forward and the Arsenal fans need to be patient.

The Brazilian’s time will come, and from Watts has said, it seems that Arsenal think that the teenager has a long-term future at the club.
