Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are desperate to see Mikel Arteta restore Gabriel Martinelli to his starting XI this afternoon.
The Gunners have a tricky London derby away to in-form West Ham United later today.
Arsenal go into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat by Olympiacos in the Europa League this week, but Arteta’s side still progressed into the quarter-final of the competition nonetheless.
Martinelli impressed during a nine-minute cameo on Thursday night but Premier League opportunities have been few and far between, managing only 211 minutes this season overall.
The 19-year-old, a £6 million signing in 2019, hasn’t featured in this competition under the Spaniard for nearly two months, when Arteta brought him off at half-time against Manchester United.
There could be a number of changes in the starting lineup today because Arsenal’s season is now all about winning the Europa League, given that they’re 10th in the Premier League table and winning Europe’s secondary competition represents a much more realistic chance of reaching the Champions League next season.
Martinelli is one of the most exciting teenagers in world football, with Jurgen Klopp labelling him a talent of the century last season.
And some fans of the North London club really want to see him start against the Hammers today.
