What a huge win that was for Tottenham Hotspur against Crystal Palace over the weekend because it keeps them in the race for Champions League football.

It required another comeback from Ange Postecoglou and his players, with Timo Werner, Cristian Romero and Son Heung-min all getting on the scoresheet.

Cristian Romero’s headed goal put Tottenham ahead and that sparked wild celebrations from the players, including from a certain James Maddison.

In the heat of the celebrations, Stephen Warnock noticed the Tottenham midfielder ‘channelling his inner Cristian Romero’, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports.

The all-action Spurs defender can be a bit of a hot-head on the field of play, with his passion coming through like no other, and it makes him very popular amongst the fanbase and his teammates.

You would imagine when the World Cup winner proceeded to kiss the badge, it made him even more popular.

Either way, those scenes were very much enjoyed by Stephen Warnock as he touched upon.

James Maddison’s celebrations

“The way he celebrates this James Madison,” said Warnock. “He channels his inner Romero as he celebrates here. That enthusiasm from James Maddison.

“I loved it. I absolutely loved it. He channelled his inner Romero.”

More celebrations at Villa Park?

This is a huge game for the club and the season as a whole.

Tottenham haven’t been in Europe and are craving to get back. At the end of the campaign, they know they will make a return, it’s just a case of what competition?

Lose at Villa Park, then the gap, on paper, will be eight points with Tottenham yet to play their game in hand against Chelsea.

But if Postecoglou can watch his team secure all three points, then destiny is in Tottenham’s hands in the race to finish in the top-four.
