Tottenham Hotspur suffered a blow to their title hopes after their disappointing 2-0 defeat on Saturday.

Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris questioned his side’s ability to handle the pressure of big away games, when speaking to the Evening Standard, and suggested they have to focus on securing a place in the top four of the Premier League table, before even thinking about winning the title.

Tottenham put in a lacklustre display during their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday – a result that leaves them a distant 10 points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have struggled away from home against the Premier League’s top sides in recent history, managing to take just four points from their seven matches on the road against the league’s current top eight sides.

And Lloris drew attention to that miserable record, when speaking to the Evening Standard, highlighting who they have a fight on their hands now just to finish inside the Champions League spots:

“Before thinking about the title, we need to think about the teams behind us in the table, because they are all top clubs with top players and they are used to fighting for the top four and for trophies. Maybe they are more experienced than us. Even if we had good experience last season when we were fighting for the title, it is not enough. It is difficult to explain and we need to question ourselves about this.”
