Ex-Reds star Danny Murphy explained why he thinks Chelsea will walk away with the Premier League title this season, and how it is too early for Spurs and Liverpool to mount a sustained challenge in the league, when writing his column for the Evening Standard.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men currently sit in second position in the table, nine points adrift of the Blues, whilst Klopp’s troops are a further three places and and four points behind Tottenham.

The two teams meet tomorrow at Anfield, and defeat for either side will more than likely all but end their title hopes.
But Murphy, who spent seven years at Liverpool, believes that this season will be too early for either his former club or Spurs to challenge Chelsea, and claimed that Manchester City are the only side capable of catching the West London outfit, when writing his column for the Evening Standard:

“Chelsea have the League virtually sewn up. If they do falter, I believe Manchester City are the only side capable of catching them. Tottenham are sound at the back, have a nice rhythm and an established way of playing but they don’t have the firepower on the bench to mount a real challenge this season. Liverpool also lack strength in depth. Both clubs are moving forward. Though Tottenham probably have the stronger squad at the moment, the picture is encouraging off the field. Liverpool have improved Anfield, while Tottenham have a superb training ground and plan to move into their new stadium at the start of the 2018-19 season.”

The Merseyside outfit have struggled of late, and seem to be running on empty after Klopp’s high intensity in-game philosophy along with extremely taxing training sessions.

Pochettino has a similar idea to the German of how the game should be played, but the Lilywhites’ squad seems to be better equipped to handle the rigours of Premier League football.
And with Chelsea so far ahead already, it will be incredibly hard for either side to peg them back.
