Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter are over the moon following a report from Football London about Ryan Sessegnon.
The 21-year-old hasn’t kicked a ball for Spurs in 16 months.
Last season he was loaned to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, after playing less than 800 minutes under Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho during his first season in North London.
But Football London have claimed that newly-appointed Nuno Espirito Santo is ‘excited’ to work with the player – and even tried to sign him for Wolves on a number of occasions.
There’s a lot of Tottenham players whose futures are up in the air, either because they aren’t good enough and need upgrading, or because they have out-grown the Lilywhites – like Harry Kane, for example.
But it seems like Sessegnon will be part of the senior squad come the start of the 2021-22 season.
And suffice to say that some Spurs fans are very happy about it.
Bad news for Davies?
With Sessegnon being primarily a left-back, this raises big questions over Nuno’s plan for Ben Davies.
Sergio Reguilon is probably ahead of the Wales international in the pecking order in terms of left-backs, but this development over the former Fulham starlet suggests that Davies may be in trouble.
And with him being one of Tottenham’s most senior and experienced players, he isn’t going to settle for being the third-choice option for that role, meaning that a departure may be likely.
