Some players who Jose Mourinho didn’t fancy are going to get chances at Tottenham Hotspur under Nuno Espirito Santo.
And one of them looks like being Ryan Sessegnon.
The 21-year-old hasn’t kicked a ball for Tottenham since March of 2020 after being loaned out to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga last season.
But the former Fulham starlet, a £20 million signing two years ago, is set to return to North London for pre-season on Monday and it looks like he’ll get chances under Nuno.
According to Football London, the new Spurs boss is excited to work with Sessegnon, whom he even tried to sign for Wolverhampton Wanderers on a couple of occasions.
Winger?
It’ll be fascinating to see where Nuno intends to play Sessegnon.
He can play either as a left-back or on the left-hand side of attack but, with Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon there, it’s possible that Nuno may use him as more of a winger.
The phrase ‘like a new signing’ is a bit of a cliche in football, but Sessegnon could be like a new signing if Nuno is able to get a good tune out of him.
