With Newcastle United set to travel to the County Ground to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Alex Murphy has been pictured in first-team training.
The talented left-back was involved with the senior side ahead of the Magpies’ recent 2-0 defeat to Manchester City as well. While there is little to no chance that the 18-year-old gets a start over Dan Burn anytime soon, he seems be impressing Eddie Howe behind-the-scenes.
After all, Alex Murphy has been seen training in and amongst the Newcastle first-team setup yet again as they prepare to face Nottingham Forest.

Considering the Magpies have two games in hand over Tottenham Hotspur, they could cut down the current 4-point gap between both sides to finish in 4th place at the end of the season.
Whilst many may consider the upcoming contest against Steve Cooper’s side as a routine win for the visitors, it still remains a crucial contest.

Alex Murphy could become his side’s future left-back
For the time being, it is unlikely that Dan Burn loses his place, as Eddie Howe clearly favours the defensive solidity that he brings to the side.
However, in the future, Alex Murphy, who is starting to train with the Newcastle first-team could become a regular starter as the club try to play a more expansive style of play.
After all, Jamie Carragher recognised the club as the ‘most organised team’ in the entirety of the Premier League after their 0-0 draw against Arsenal.
But once they start to play a more free-flowing brand of football, the young buck could become a vital cog to his side.
