Jamie Carragher has praised Newcastle United after their 0-0 draw against Arsenal for being the most organised team in the Premier League.

While Mikel Arteta’s side were fancied to get the all-important 3 points at home, a defensive masterclass from Newcastle meant the spoils were shared.

On the night, Arsenal were largely fluid in possession and put on a commendable attacking display.

However, Eddie Howe’s side put in a defensive performance for the ages, limiting the hosts to just 4 shots on target.

While Newcastle failed to create much going forward, their organisation and last-ditch defending was of the highest order.

It would be fair to say that most sides in the Premier League would eventually have folded and conceded inevitably at the hands of the Arsenal onslaught on show.

However, Newcastle are one of one from a defensive point of view, as the numbers suggest, with the visitors conceding the least number of goals in the Premier League so far (12 in 18 games).

And a certain high-profile pundit had to credit this side of the 4th placed side’s game.

Jamie Carragher has paid the ultimate compliment to Newcastle for their defensive solidity, after they held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw.

“Really good game for a 0-0! Both teams showing great fight with no inch given. “

“Arsenal shouldn’t worry about the dropped points, as Newcastle are the most organised team in the league!!”, he said on Twitter.

Carragher is bang on the money

As mentioned earlier, Newcastle are statistically the best defensive team in the Premier League.

Both in terms of the structure laid out by Eddie Howe as well as the individual performances from the likes of Kieran Trippier and Sven Botman against Arsenal, this was another reminder of how brilliant they are in defence.

Much like Carragher, several other fans and pundits must credit Newcastle and their excellent organisation.
