Drake has developed a reputation for lumping big sums on sporting events such as the Super Bowl and the NBA finals.
The World Cup final was never going to escape his gambling habits and it led to the infamous Drake curse striking again on Lionel Messi and Argentina.
How Argentina were beaten by the Drake curse
Before kick-off, Drake placed a $1.5m bet on Argentina to beat Spain in the World Cup final.
Ferran Torres had other ideas though and the Barcelona forward scored the winner in extra time to hand his nation their second World Cup trophy.
As per the Drakecurse.com website, the Toronto-born rapper’s record when it comes to bets coming in have not been kind.
In fact, the Drake curse is such a phenomenon that people believe the Canadian was responsible for the Golden State Warriors surrendering a 3-1 lead in the 2016 NBA finals.
Other sporting stars that have fallen foul to the Drake curse include boxer Anthony Joshua. The British heavyweight star posed for a picture with him in 2018 before going on to lose to Andy Ruiz.
More recently he has lost bets involving Conor McGregor and Max Holloway, as well as on Argentina in 2022, when he wagered that they would beat France in 90 minutes.
