It’s never a major sporting event unless Drake has placed a mammoth bet on it and the World Cup final is no different.
The Canadian rapper has developed a reputation for dropping large sums on events like the Super Bowl and boxing fights.
With Argentina taking on Spain in the World Cup final tonight, Drake has decided to part with $1.5m on a bet that will surely raise some eyebrows.

What is Drake’s bet for the World Cup?
Ahead of the game, the Toronto-born star has put all his eggs in the basket of Argentina by placing a huge fee on them to defend their World Cup crown.
Argentina beat England 2-1 in the semi-final while Spain made light work of pre-tournament favourites France to set up a final.
It is the first time that the reigning champions of the world have faced the current champions of Europe on the global stage.
While Drake has nailed his colours to the Argentina flag, that hasn’t always proved to be a good omen for the team in question.
What is the Drake curse?
Drake’s bets have often gone viral, mainly because they haven’t come in, which has had some people believing in a theory called the ‘Drake curse’.
The concept of it is pretty simple: when Drake bets on your team, they usually go on to lose.
High-profile examples of this in the past include betting on the Golden State Warriors before they blew a 3-1 series lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals.
A website known as the DrakeCurse.com has kept a record of his attempts, stating that he is currently $1.56M down from his all-time total from his public sports bets.
He has won 32 out of his 87 bets, averaging just under $500k per bet. So, if history is anything to go by, we will see Spain go on to become World champions.
