It seems nobody can agree on which Liverpool players are ready to fit in with Rodgers style, except for one midfielder.
The arrival of a new manager at a football club inevitably creates speculation about what the team and the football under the new man will be like.
This has been especially the case with Brendan Rodgers and his ‘Tiki Taka’ brand of football.
So, the fan websites have had numerous analyses of how the new look Liverpool will develop, and how the existing players will fit in. And what have these taught us?
Well, a few days ago I learned that the existing back two pairing is perfect. Agger is comfortable on the ball, retains possession and makes the accurate passes required, while Skrtel has the ball- winning skills to complement him.
Yet, just the day before, I was reliably informed that Skrtel can’t fit in to the new style of play because he lacks the ability on the ball. He is a ‘hoofer’, and Liverpool should cash in on him.
I have also learned that Enrique will fit well into the system, with his ability to cross the ball.
However, on the other hand, he won’t fit because he crosses from too deep and doesn’t get far enough forward.
Andy Carroll, one writer informs us, can’t possibly fit in to the new system because he is too ponderous.
On the other hand, another is certain that he can because he can be quick across the ground and has the ability to hold the ball and lay it off well.
That’s the beauty of football. Everyone has a view, everyone disagrees and everyone is right.
The one man, every analysis I’ve read so far agrees about is Charlie Adam.
Are you agreed Charlie Adam is not good enough? What about the rest of the squad?
