José Mourinho and Tanguy Ndombele never really saw eye to eye during their time together at Tottenham.

The 59-year-old was quite tough on the France international, often calling him out in the media while also famously turning up at his house during lockdown to get him out jogging.

However, it always felt as if Mourinho had Ndombele’s best intentions at heart – the Portuguese coach even told the Metro that the Tottenham maestro was one of Europe’s best talents, but his lack of effort “frustrates” him.

Now, the pair have reunited in Italy.

How Mourinho reacted to seeing Ndombele

Well, Ndombele is currently on loan at Napoli for the 2022/23 campaign, where he bumped into Mourinho following his side’s 1-0 win over Roma on Sunday.

Cameras caught the moment where they reunited on the pitch after full-time, and despite all that has happened between them in the past, the pair seemed pleased to meet up once again.

Clearly, there is no bad blood between the two of them.

Ndombele even received a cuddle from Mourinho after beating his Roma side by a 1-0 scoreline, which speaks volumes given the post-match grumpiness we’ve often seen from him after a defeat.

Tottenham need more from Ndombele

If the 25-year-old is going to have a future under Antonio Conte in north London, he must improve.

Ndombele was very poor against Roma, and was the first substitute of the evening as Luciano Spalletti gave up on him after just 57 minutes, bringing Eljif Elmas into the game instead.

The Frenchman’s poor display comes after Italian journalist Mimmo Malfitano claimed Napoli fans are not happy with the Tottenham loanee.

As quoted by Area Napoli, he said: “Ndombele has not yet expressed his full potential in Naples. The midfielder is struggling due to not yet being in optimal physical conditions. I am reading you some message that I am receiving these days. ‘Why don’t you go back to Tottenham?’, ‘Go back to England’. Obviously, the Azzurri supporters are not satisfied with the performances of the midfielder.”

Hopefully, Ndombele can turn things around, and return to N17 as a different player in terms of effort levels.
