- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC understands that Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has made his stance clear on the next steps following a failed move to Newcastle United.
Newcastle United made multiple offers to Crystal Palace for defender Marc Guehi but the Englishman remained at Selhurst Park when the transfer window slammed shut last weekend.
HITC understands that Palace owner Steve Parish increased Guehi’s price to £75 million which was the final nail in the coffin as the deal did not proceed despite Eddie Howe’s willingness to sign the Englishman.
The deal did not happen and Guehi has remained at Selhurst Park, for the time being at least.

Marc Guehi’s stance on Crystal Palace future explained
HITC sources understand that Guehi is concentrating his efforts on his form with Crystal Palace and England, rather than his own future.
Palace chief Steve Parish is believed to be keen on opening contract talks with Guehi – who saw a move to Newcastle United fail to materialise, even though the Magpies made an offer worth £70 million.
The North East side attempted to get a deal over the line with days remaining of the window, even with his £75 million asking price, but no agreement was forthcoming.
Despite the speculation continuing over his future, HITC understands that, as it stands, Guehi and his team of representatives want his football to take centre stage and not his immediate future.
Guehi was exceptional at Euro 2024, with Manchester United and Liverpool keen on the Palace defender who will now enter the final 18 months of his deal once the January transfer window comes around.
Liverpool and Tottenham remain huge admirers of Guehi
As mentioned, Guehi has two years left on his current deal, which Parish is happy to extend – but understands that if no new deal is forthcoming, then they will have to consider a sale.
As well as Manchester United and Liverpool, sources have also told HITC that Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea remain huge admirers of the defender.
Guehi has been named as Palace’s club captain following an outstanding summer but his future is far from certain with less than two years to run on his contract at the South London club.
