Declan Rice contract expiry has been a commonly searched term after Arsenal made the West Ham No.41 their top target for the summer transfer window.

The England international is wanted by Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard aims to bolster his midfield department at the Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners confident of striking an agreement with West Ham – according to The Times.

West Ham’s negotiating power relies heavily on the 24-year-old’s contract situation.

So, how long does Rice have left on his contract? Let’s take a look…

Declan Rice contract expiry

Well, Rice doesn’t have much time remaining on his contract at the London Stadium.

The West Ham talisman’s current terms expire on 30th June 2024.

That means the upcoming summer represents West Ham’s last chance to sell Rice for a significant fee, with The Times stating that a sum of £80m should be enough to secure his signature.

Should West Ham fail to sell their midfield lynchpin this summer, then he would normally be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with another side in January 2024 ahead of a free transfer.

However, the east Londoners hold an option to extend his contract by a further 12 months, safeguarding them against that situation.

Nevertheless, it is in West Ham’s best interests to sell Rice – especially as he has no intention of signing a new contract, according to the Telegraph.

In truth, the Hammers risk angering their No.41 if they choose to trigger that contractual option, as he has already spoken about his desire to play Champions League football and win trophies.

Declan Rice’s salary

On his current terms at the London Stadium, Rice earns £62,000-a-week.

The England international should expect to receive a significant pay rise if he secures a move to Arsenal, as the Gunners pay more to some fringe players.

For example, Cedric Soares is said to earn £67,000-a-week in north London, so Rice would surely expect to be paid closer to a first-team regular, such as the £93,000-a-week Ben White.

Be sure to keep an eye on the situation involving Arsenal and Rice, with Chelsea and Manchester United also showing an interest in his services.
