Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes that Antonio Conte could be the manager to get the best out of Dele Alli again at Tottenham.
Speaking on Sky Sports News, the former Arsenal star claimed that the 37-cap England international could return to his best under Conte. Alli has been out of form for some time at Spurs, with the midfielder struggling under former boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
The appointment of Conte has plenty of Tottenham fans excited, and for the likes of Alli, it presents a chance for the out of form Spurs star to prove the Italian his true quality.
And for Merson, the pundit believes Conte could be the man to bring the best out of Alli once more. With the midfielder yet to reach the quality he showed when managed by Mauricio Pochettino.
Merson said when asked about Alli: “I think he’s got a chance with Conte. He’s got to be like a Frank Lampard, breaking into the box and scoring goals.”
The pundit added: “It’s always different when a new manager gets in; those who were not getting much time have a chance.”
