Andy Townsend has praised Liverpool forward Diogo Jota on Premier League Productions for his performance against Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The former Chelsea midfielder was left stunned by Jota during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.

The £41 million (BBC Sport) attacking midfielder scored in the 35th minute when he headed home a cross from Andy Robertson.

Praise for Liverpool’s Diogo Jota

Townsend said on Premier League Productions: “How good is this guy in the air, Diogo Jota? Countless times he’s done exactly what you’ve just seen.

“He gets himself in a situation, he gets across people or pulls in behind them, but once he leaps and gets his head on it, he’s so clever and so accurate with it.

“Davinson Sanchez slept a little bit, Dier gets dragged out, then Ben Davies can’t really deal with that so they’re a little bit all over the place.

“But the clipped ball in from Andy Robertson is brilliant. Jota peels off, powerful header right in the corner.”

A Liverpool success

In our opinion, Jota has been a huge success at Liverpool, and there is more to come from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal international teammate.

The 25-year-old scores goals, creates chances, links up play, and moves very cleverly.

Jota is simply perfect for the way Liverpool play under manager Jurgen Klopp.

Yes, injuries have affected the Liverpool no. 20, but when fit and available, he has been superb.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers star has scored 10 goals and provided one assist in 14 Premier League starts for Liverpool so far this season.

Jota has scored one goal in three Champions League starts this season.

The Liverpool star scored nine goals in 12 Premier League Strats and four goals in six Champions League starts last season.
