Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told Football.London that Ben White has progressed a lot over the past two seasons.
Arteta made the comments about White after the Arsenal central defender was included in the England squad for the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.
The former Leeds United loanee is a centre-back by trade, but he has been playing as a right-back for the Gunners this season.
That’s because William Saliba and Gabriel are playing in central defence for Arsenal at the moment.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on Ben White
Arteta on White: “I think he was very happy. The rest of the staff and players were so happy for him. He fully deserves it and you could see that it was a big moment for him.”
The Arsenal boss added: “All the credit is down to him and what he’s done.
“If you look at his career and how far he’s come in a very short period of time it shows everything about the person, the player, his ambition and everything he’s done in the last two years.”

Progressing
In our view, Ben White is one of the best defenders in the Premier League and has been playing well for Arsenal since his move to the Emirates Stadium.
After showing what he is capable of doing at centre-back in the Premier League, White is now playing at right-back with equal class.
And he is still only 25.
White can only grow and develop as a player in the future, and we think that he will.
Arsenal are a club on the up who are challenging for the Premier League title and are also in the UEFA Europa League this season.
The defender will play a big role for the Gunners in the coming weeks and months.
