Jose Enrique has stated on Instagram that he hopes Liverpool sign, Jude Bellingham, after he was pictured with Trent Alexander-Arnold on England duty ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
The former Liverpool left-back dubbed Alexander-Arnold as ‘Agent Trent’, with clubs across Europe vying for Bellingham’s signature.
As of this moment, Bellingham is focusing on trying to help England win their first major tournament since 1966, with Bellingham a possible starter ahead of their opener against Iran next Monday, but Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson might have to contend with a place on the bench.
LIVERPOOL’S INTEREST IN BELLINGHAM
Whether it’s Bellingham or a midfielder of a similar ilk, Jurgen Klopp needs to refresh his team in the middle of the park.
For most Liverpool fans, the dream capture would be Borussia Dortmund’s rising star.
But will those in the Liverpool boardroom put the money on the table needed to sign the 19-year-old? Especially given that there is talk about FSG possibly selling up.
If the Reds are serious about backing Klopp, then they will bring a player of Bellingham’s ilk to his table, either during the January transfer window or in the summer.
But, before then, he might cook on the world’s biggest stage, with England hoping to better their Euro 2020 final heartache defeat to Italy out in the Middle East.
Bellingham was part of that squad, but he wasn’t a regular starter, although this could be the tournament that elevates his already growing status even further.
