Leeds United’s pursuit of Ryan Kent has been one of the longest transfer sagas in recent memory. The Yorkshire club have been linked to the winger for over three years, with Marcelo Bielsa being a huge admirer from day one, but, despite their interest, the Whites are yet to get this transfer over the line.
However, with the recent sacking of Jesse Marsch and the possibility of Steven Gerrard coming in as the new manager, this could be the opportunity that Leeds have been waiting for to finally sign Kent.
Gerrard has been linked with a move to Leeds by TuttoMercatoWeb.
Gerrard worked with Kent at Rangers and the former Aston Villa boss knew how to get the most out of the ex-Liverpool star.
In fact, Gerrard was reportedly keen to sign Kent at Villa, but a deal couldn’t be done.

The relationship between the two at Ibrox was strong.
Kent flourished under Gerrard’s management and showed his potential as one of the best wingers in Scotland, while also putting in a number of standout Europa League performances.
Victor Orta, Leeds’ director of football, has been a long-term admirer of Kent and has been monitoring his progress for years. Kent has been on the Whites’ radar for some time, and if Gerrard were to take over at Elland Road, he could use his relationship with Kent to finally help Orta get this deal done.
There’s no doubt that having Gerrard in the dugout could be a major selling point for Leeds in their pursuit of Kent, and with doubts being cast over the future of Jack Harrison earlier this week, Leeds could, once again, be in the market for a winger soon.
Of course, this is all pie in the sky at the moment as Gerrard doesn’t appear close to joining Leeds, but if he does end up at Elland Road, don’t be shocked if Kent follows suit.
