Ange Postecoglou has brought an attacking spark, enjoyment and flair to Tottenham’s style of football.

For several years, the fans have watched paint dry on the pitch because their managers have played a very passive game.

Tottenham’s new boss deserves huge credit for the club’s turnaround and he is now enjoying himself at Euro 2024 in Germany before the drama of the new season kicks off again.

No Upcoming Fixtures

The Greek-born Australian was working as a pundit with ITV as the European Championships started to enter its crunch moments.

Teams are now getting booted out and heading home. Poland were the first team to get knocked out and Scotland followed suit on Sunday.

One team who kept their hopes alive of reaching the knockout stages were Belgium when they beat Romania 2-0 and Postecoglou raved about one of their star players, Jeremy Doku.

The Manchester City trickster was wanted by Spurs last summer, but Pep Guardiola came knocking and he joined the then-Treble winners instead.

Postecoglou stated that Doku is ‘such a threat’ and you don’t want to dilute the magic and rawness to his game because it’s what makes him dangerous, as he told ITV Sport.

The Tottenham boss spoke about his players facing the Belgium star during the recently concluded season, including him winning a late penalty during Manchester City’s crucial title win in North London.

Ange Postecoglou praises Belgium winger Jeremy Doku at Euro 2024

“To a certain extent (you want Doku to calm down), but you don’t want to take away that exuberance and rawness,” said Postecoglou.

“I call tell you facing him this year. The team facing him, not me thankfully. He’s such a threat when he gets the ball because he always wants to take on his opponent. Those players, you don’t want to dull that, at all. Once you get them playing safe, it takes away what the magic is.

“You put him in a team and you know he is going to make some mistakes. But when he does break through and the speed he possesses, I think there is so much upside there.”

Jeremy Doku in the Premier League

It was a strong debut campaign in England’s top-flight for the 22-year-old and a player who has brought real excitement to the league.

Doku scored three goals and supplied nine assists and you can see why a manager like Postecoglou wanted him on board.

Tottenham struggled for balance in the forward line. Timo Werner has come back, but he isn’t of the level of Doku.

The player still made the right call to move to the Etihad, but you feel Spurs still need to look for another player of Doku’s style to increase their chances of returning to the Champions League.
