Liverpool fans are excited after the Liverpool Echo claimed that Kostas Tsimikas was likely to start against Arsenal tomorrow.

Andy Robertson is apparently set to lose his race against fitness after picking up an injury problem, which has left Liverpool alerting Tsimikas.

The Greek full-back has apparently been placed on ‘standby’ to start by Jurgen Klopp.

It shows the increasing levels of trust in the Greek left-back that there is actually a clamour for him to get the nod.

Some Liverpool fans have suggested that Tsimikas should be starting over Robertson right now, even when they are both fully fit.

The combative full-back featured for the Reds in the early part of the season and his whole-hearted performances caught the eye.

And the news that Tsimikas now looks set to start has excited many supporters at Anfield.

Tough test incoming?

If Tsimikas is given the nod he could face a tough test against an Arsenal side who have been in good form of late.

The Liverpool man is set to come up against Bukayo Saka if he does feature, which could be one of the hardest challenges during his career on Merseyside so far.

Tsimikas was actually signed at the start of last season, but he barely made any impact.

However, this term he has began to prove his worth and is now offering real competition for the left-back slot.

If Tsimikas does start and perform well against Arsenal, Robertson’s time on the sidelines could well be extended, as the Scot’s performance levels have dipped slightly in recent times and an opening may just be becoming available.
