Kostas Tsimikas was brilliant on Wednesday as Liverpool beat Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

The Greece international was a real threat for Liverpool going forward and truthfully, Diego Simeone’s side struggled with him.

Tsimikas, a left-back who Michael Edwards paid £11 million for in 2020, has spent virtually his whole career at Anfield playing second fiddle to Andy Robertson.

But as brilliant as he has been down the years, helping Jurgen Klopp’s side to a Champions League and Premier League title, some fans of the Merseyside club want to see the Scot dropped for Tsimikas in Sunday’s trip to West Ham United.

Here’s what they’re saying on Twitter:

Deserving?

Tsimikas has started only three Premier League games under Klopp since arriving from Olympiacos.

And honestly, the truth is that he does deserve to make the first XI for Sunday’s visit to London.

If that performance against Atletico in a competition like the Champions League isn’t good enough for Klopp then Tsimikas must ask himself what he must do to make a starting lineup.

And if he continues with Robertson, what message would it send to other fringe players in the squad?

What chance do they have of playing regularly if Tsimikas’s display in midweek goes unrewarded?

These are questions that the Liverpool boss needs to ask himself before picking his team for West Ham.
