Brendan Rodgers has suggested to Sky Sports that James Maddison is ‘happy’ and will stay at Leicester next season despite the rumoured Arsenal interest.
There have been rumours that Arsenal want to sign the £70 million-rated player this summer, as Mikel Arteta looks to bulk up his declining squad.
Maddison is currently in pre-season training with the Foxes, who will compete in Europe next season, whilst those at the Emirates miss out for the first time in 25 years.
But Rodgers has suggested that Maddison will stay put despite the ‘very talented’ player being looked at by others, which is bad news for those at Arsenal.
“I haven’t been told anything,” said Rodgers. “He is happy. He is training. He is working very hard.
“He just recently became a father, so responsibility there off the pitch as well.
“Clearly there is gossip and speculation that goes around, especially at this time of year.
“But James is a very important member of our squad. Very talented player. His season was disrupted last year with injury and, hopefully, he can go on this year and show the real top player that he is.
On the club being open if an asking price is met: “I have given you an answer of where he is at. I have given you that answer.”

Well, it seems as though the Foxes might not budge in allowing Maddison to leave, but at the end of the day, money does talk.
But then it has to be asked, ‘do Arsenal have the financial power to lure Maddison towards their direction?’
Given that it’s the Kroenke’s in charge then the answer is probably no, and if that’s the case, then Arsenal fans won’t be happy.
At this moment in time, Arsenal fans have to be disappointed with their summer transfer business because they haven’t acted like a team that wants to get back into Europe.
