Tottenham Hotspur‘s season took another turn last night.

Spurs were leading 2-0 away to Premier League champions Manchester City at half time.

But a stunning second-half display from the hosts blew Tottenham away, with Pep Guardiola’s side scoring four times after the break.

Two of those goals were avoidable, with Hugo Lloris and Clement Lenglet gifting City their third and fourth of the evening.

At 3-2 down, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte took Ivan Perisic off for Ryan Sessegnon, ignoring a more attacking option – like Richarlison for instance.

And Darren Ambrose has told talkSPORT that substitution demonstrated to him that the Italian manager has more or less given up in North London.

He said: “He [Conte] has broken me. I think he’s given up. I think he’s given up on the board and a certain amount of players. You go 3-2 down and you’re taking off Perisic and putting on Sessegnon. That’s not a substitution to try and get back in the game.”

Staggeringly, Tottenham will be eight points behind fourth-placed Newcastle United if they win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

We aren’t even out of January yet and Conte’s side could be out of the race for a Champions League qualification spot.

There are massive problems for the Lilywhites right now and although Conte would never ‘give up’ as Ambrose put it, some of his decisions are a tad questionable, particularly when fit-again Richarlison was on the bench, too.
