Martin Keown thinks Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ’emulating’ what Thierry Henry did after Arsenal’s 3-1 win in the North London derby on Sunday, as he told Match of the Day.
When Aubameyang scored Arsenal’s second goal of the game, he celebrated by paying homage to Henry by doing his iconic knee slide celebration.
Henry was at the Emirates over the weekend, and when he was asked about Aubameyang’s celebration, he gave his seal of approval.
Whilst the £56 million star (BBC Sport) had his issues last season, it does seem as though he is back up and running again during this campaign.
When Keown was asked to share his thoughts on Aubameyang and his celebration by MOTD host, Jason Mohammad, this was his reaction.
“Aubameyang’s celebration, it was very similar to a man you played alongside, the legend, Thierry Henry,” said Mohammad.
Keown responded: “He played with me actually. No, I played with him.”
MOTD host responded with laugher and said “Did he just say that on live television?”
Keown added: “Wonderful player. But he’s emulating what he’s doing now, isn’t he, Aubameyang? He looks a little bit like him.”

That’s three Premier League wins on the bounce for Arsenal, and for once, things are looking on the up for Mikel Arteta.
Aubameyang looks like he has found his scoring boots once again, the defence is looking solid and the youngsters are thriving.
Then the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel Martinelli and Nicolas Pepe are on the bench to provide that extra firepower.
But given how quickly the mood can change in North London, a defeat to in-form Brighton at the weekend will end up turning everything on its head again.
If the Gunners can pick up three points against Graham Potter’s men, and with it, put in a strong performance, then the critics might just take a step back and start to change their tune.
