It’s safe to say Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a game to forget against Watford as the Arsenal star missed a key penalty.
The Gunners captain had the perfect chance to give Arsenal the lead after Alexandre Lacazette was fouled in the area. However, Aubameyang was denied from the spot by Ben Foster.
With the reported £56m 2018 signing from Borussia Dortmund also cancelling out two more goals due to being in an offside position, Aubameyang had a mare of a match against the Hornets.
Had it not been for Emile Smith Rowe’s heroics, Aubameyang would have been a wanted man by Arsenal supporters, yet his penalty sparked debate on social media.
As per Orbinho, the Gabon international has now missed four of the 13 penalties Aubameyang has taken in the Premier League. A success rate of just over 70%.
Indeed, with Alexandre Lacazette yet to miss a penalty since joining Arsenal, there is concern over why Aubameyang is still the club’s main spot taker.
