Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has raved about his teammate Darwin Nunez on the club’s official website, and has said that the Uruguay international striker has been “outstanding” for Jurgen Klopp’s side so far this season.

Alexander-Arnold has outlined what Nunez has brought to Liverpool since his move from Benfica in the summer of 2022.

The England international right-back made the comments about the 23-year-old following his performance against Leicester City at Anfield in the Premier League last Friday evening.

Nunez did not score, but he was involved in the second goal for the Reds and also created two very good chances for Mohamed Salah.

Trent Alexander-Arnold on Liverpool teammate Darwin Nunez

Alexander-Arnold said about Nunez: “I think I speak on behalf of all the lads: he’s been, I think, outstanding since he came in.

“People will judge him on his goals and that’s part of being a striker, that’s part of life. But I think he can keep walking off the pitch with his head held high because he is getting in positions that are really, really hurting the opposition.

“He’s such a threat, he’s getting in behind, he’s holding the ball up, he’s flicking balls on, he’s doing everything that the manager has asked of him. His pressing, his attitude, his desire, you can’t question any of it.”

Staying positive

In our opinion, Liverpool fans should stay positive about Darwin Nunez and should be confident that he will start banging in the goals soon.

Nunez is playing well, creating chances for his teammates, and getting opportunities to score himself.

The big problem for the 23-year-old is that he is unable to score at the moment.

Nunez is lacking composure to finish.

It will come.

Nunez has scored five goals and given two assists in nine Premier League starts for Liverpool so far this season.

The striker has scored three goals in three UEFA Champions League starts for the Reds so far this campaign.
