Perhaps silly season is starting early ahead of the January transfer window, but Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a player who Arsenal supporters will remember very well.
According to 90 Min earlier this week – as covered by HITC Sport – Spurs have been offered the chance to sign Wojciech Szczesny of Juventus.
The Poland international left Arsenal to join the Italian giants in a £10 million transfer back in 2017 [The Guardian].
Despite leaving the Gunners five years ago, Szczesny has occasionally made headlines for taking digs at Tottenham – his old club’s North London rivals – since departing the Premier League.
And Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has told Give Me Sport that the Lilywhites’ faithful will literally protest against the 32-year-old coming in, if there’s any validity to this transfer rumour whatsoever.

He said: “This is a guy that hates the club and the fans don’t like him either. It would go down as one of the most surprising signings and, in this day and age, nothing should surprise you in football.
“There would be protests and there would be an online petition from fans because he’s made his feelings clear that he’s an Arsenal man. I would be stunned and, of all my years in football and 15 years at Sky, if I announced that transfer, it would probably be the most shocked I’ve ever been in football transfers.”
Wojciech Szczesny to Tottenham?
It would, in all honesty, be a massive shock to say the least.
That being said, there could potentially be some truth to it.
Not only do Tottenham need a long-term replacement for the error-prone Hugo Lloris, but there’s an obvious connection between Spurs and Juve these days, with Fabio Paratici having spent many years in Turin, overseeing their transfers.
Still, he is certainly an Arsenal man, as Bridge pointed out, and it’d be a major turn of events if he turned his back on his old club and signed for the enemy.
