Ghana team-mate Inaki Williams is backing Mohammed Kudus to make the ‘step up to a big club’ amid interest from Premier League trio Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the Ajax forward, speaking to Radio Marca.
In a repeat of that quarter-final clash back in 2010, Ghana face Uruguay on Friday afternoon with a place in the World Cup last-16 up for grabs. At least, with Kudus in the form of his life, Otto Addo’s side can be confident of exercising the ghosts of South Africa.
Kudus has 12 goals for club and country so far this season. Two of those came during Ghana’s dramatic 3-2 win over South Korea last time out; the former Nordsjaelland talisman showcasing the movement and predatory instincts that encouraged Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder to transform him from a box-to-box midfielder to a centre-forward.

“When I played with him during the last international period before the World Cup, Kudus surprised me a lot,” explains Williams, who switched his allegiance from Spain to Ghana before heading to Qatar.
“My teammates at Athletic Bilbao often ask me who impresses me in the national team. I always mention his name.”
Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham like Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus
According to 90Min, Arsenal and Newcastle United have now enquired about Kudus’ availability, with the £30 million-rated 22-year-old refusing to rule out a January departure from the Johan Cruyff Arena. Liverpool and Tottenham are also interested (BILD).
Barcelona director Jordi Cruyff, meanwhile, has been keeping tabs on the free-scoring Kudus during the last 12 months.
“Ajax is becoming too small (for him). Hopefully, he will soon make the step up to a big club,” Williams adds. “I would have liked him to have a Basque relative who could take him to Bilbao!
“He is a bomb. A machine. He is already very complete, although there is still room for development due to his age.
“Yes (he can play for Barcelona or Real Madrid). I see him playing in a great club. He has plenty of potential and a great margin for improvement. I think he may be a revelation.”
Kudus admitted recently that he was ‘very close’ to joining Everton in August. The Toffees made a £15 million bid at the time. Only a few months later, the Kudus ship might have sailed for Everton now.
