Rangers legend Brian Laudrup admits he’d love to see Andres Skov Olsen join the Scottish Premiership champions from Serie A outfit Bologna in the January transfer window, speaking to the Daily Mail

The Denmark international might have found goals hard to come by in Italy – scoring just three times in 68 games – but if you were to judge every player by his worst moment, well then no one would ever sign anyone would they?

Skov Olsen’s performances back home in Scandinavia suggest that, when confidence is flowing, the goals will too.

The jet-heeled wideman scored 26 goals during his final season at Nordsjaelland, catching the eye of many a Premier League club along the way.

It is not inconceivable that Skov Olsen could make a similar impact at a Rangers side plying their trade in a division that is closer to the Danish SuperLiga than the Italian Serie A in terms of quality and competition.

“I think there’s a vacancy for another out-and-out winger to provide balance with (Ryan) Kent. On that front, I’ve been excited to see Rangers linked with Andreas Skov Olsen at Bologna,” says Laudrup, a Danish legend who won a trio of Premiership titles in the 1990s, via the Record.

“He’s been fantastic for Denmark recently. It hasn’t worked for him so far in Serie A, with talk he could even be allowed to leave on loan, but I know from my own career that Italy can be a difficult place at times.”

Will Skov Olsen sign for Rangers?

Laudrup points out that Skov Olsen, who thrived as a winger or a second-striker at Nordsjaelland, is not playing in his preferred position at Bologna, spending much of his time as a wing-back.

Given that Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has a fine track record when it comes to getting the best out of exciting, dynamic forward players like Skov Olsen, a mid-season move to Glasgow could give jump-start his stalling club career.

“If you are looking for a hug the line player, a real creative force, then Skov Olsen ticks the boxes,” Laudrup adds. “I think he would be wonderful to watch in a system like Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s.

“I’d see Rangers as a very good option for him if an opportunity was to arise. He’s a crowd pleaser. But an effective one, too. He’s not a type you see that often.

“Even on a short-term deal, he’d be able to do something and deliver for the team if played in the right areas.”

According to the Scottish Daily Mail (1st January, back page) Rangers made contact regarding a move for the £5 million Skov Olsen recently.

Nathan Patterson’s impending move to Everton could free up funds for a winter bid.
